Reserve Riesling Icewine
Vintage: 2019
Price: $59.95
Price: In-Store, Online
Grape Varietal(s)*: 100% Riesling
Residual Sugar: 220 grams/Litre
Tasting Notes: Golden yellow in the glass with intense aromas of apricot, nectarine, candied peaches, peach jam and wild honey. The palate is unctuously sweet but balanced by ample acidity with flavours of grilled pineapple, golden brown sugar, candied ginger and golden raisins. The finish is long and lingering with flavours of pineapple up-side-down cake and apricots.
Suggested Food Pairing: Enjoy on its own as the perfect dessert or pair with sweet or salty foods, blue cheese or spiced nuts.
Notes/Comments: Also available in 200ml bottle.
Food Pairing: Celtic Blue & Icewine
Pairing Description: Enjoy with Glengarry Fine Cheese's Celtic Blue.
Notes/Comments: The salt in the blue cheese makes this a wonderful sweet and salty pairing! The Icewine has intense flavours of candied apricot confit and sweet passionfruit jam. The blue cheese cuts through the sweetness, while bringing out more acidity.
13 Below Riesling
Vintage: 2017
Price: $24.95
Price: In-Store, Online
Grape Varietal(s)*: Riesling 55%, Vidal Icewine 45%
Residual Sugar: 60 grams/Litre
Tasting Notes: Classic Vidal Icewine aromatics jump from the glass with a ripe nose of apricot, wildflowers and honey. On the palate it is medium sweet from the Icewine but balance with the acid structure from the Riesling. In addition to the notes of apricot and honey, there is some savory herbal notes leading to a sweet but cleansing finish.
Suggested Food Pairing: On the savoury side, this wine is an ideal pairing for foie gras, creamy blue cheeses or well-aged Cheddar. On the sweet front, try crème brulée and light airy desserts such as apple charlotte, delicate NY cheesecakes, or fresh citrus fruit with sabayon.
Food Pairing: Spicy and Sweet
Pairing Description: Pair with 13th Street Winery's Spicy Carrot Ginger Soup
Notes/Comments: Lots of ginger and aromatic spices come through on both the wine and soup. The sweetness of the Riesling softens the spices and heat in the soup.
